Pastor John Siebeling
Luke 3:21 - …As he was praying, heaven opened.
This picture and concept of an open heaven is found throughout the Bible. From beginning to end. In the Old Testament, Isaiah prayed for it. Isaiah 64:1 - If only you would tear the heavens open and come down… David prayed for it. Psalm 144:5 - Lord, part your heavens and come down… Malachi prophesied about it in Malachi 3:10. In the New Testament, Jesus experienced it.
What is an open heaven? It’s when God’s people are hungry and are seeking Him, and He pours out His Holy Spirit, and we experience His favor and His blessing. The idea is we need God’s favor. We can’t just depend on ourselves, our intellect, our ideas, our experience and our hard work. So, we’re praying and fasting, asking God to move, and asking God for His favor in our personal lives. His favor over our families. His favor over our jobs and our finances. His favor over our church.
I’m praying this year that you will experience an open heaven! Restoration. Favor. Momentum. The presence of God. Maybe it seems opposite for you right now. Heaven seems closed. You feel like you are striving and struggling and it seems hard. You can’t seem to get the breakthrough. Keep seeking God. Don’t give up. God will come through. Set your heart to press in and pray and fast during these 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer. I’m believing with you that God will bring a breakthrough!
