21 Days Devotional: Day 8

Welcome Home

Pastor Leslie Siebeling

Psalm 26:8 - Lord, I love the house where you live, the place where your Glory dwells.

Home has always been important to me. My dad was the youngest of 12 children who's parents immigrated from Italy. My mom was the middle child of 5 and a true Cajun from Thibodaux, Louisiana. Needless to say, there was always plenty of people, food and fun around our house. Friends were welcomed as family. Encouragement was freely given. My parents created an atmosphere of unconditional love, stability and acceptance for our family, but they also had expectations and standards that brought out the best in me and challenged me to grow and mature.

Looking back, I realize now more than ever that my home gave me a little glimpse into the wonder and beauty of the house of God. There is nothing better than being in God's house with God's people! The sense of belonging and being part of something that has eternal purpose has moved me forward and seen me through the highs and lows of life. We were created to do life with God and with people - church is the perfect place for that to happen.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to make a commitment to consistently be found in God's house. Devote the time and effort it takes to develop healthy relationships and find a place to serve. If you are fully engaged, keep it up! Your dedication is making a difference in your own life and the lives of others. Together we are creating a refuge and place of strength that reflects God's goodness here on earth.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I thank you for my church and the strength and blessing it has brought to my life.

Prayer Focus: Ask God to continue to make The Life Church a place where people can find a sense of belonging, protection, provision and purpose.
