The Life Church was planted in 1996 by John and Leslie Siebeling after they returned from serving as missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya. They brought a core team of seven people to Memphis with one clear vision: build a church that looks like the city it serves. Memphis is racially, economically, and culturally diverse, and The Life Church was designed from the start to cross those lines rather than draw them. That commitment to diversity is visible in the congregation, the leadership, and the culture of the church every Sunday.
