Back-to-school season means a lot of things resetting at once with new teachers, new schedules, and new routines. For students at The Life Church in Memphis, it also means Axis is back! As the school year kicks off, Wednesday nights return, giving 6th through 12th graders a consistent place to land every single week.
What Happens This Fall
Axis meets every Wednesday during the school year at all three Memphis-area locations: Houston Levee, Highland, and Austin Peay. Each night includes worship led by the Axis team, a message from God’s Word taught through a multi-week series, and time to connect with friends. After the fall kickoff, series topics move through subjects students are actually facing during the school year. Things like identity, friendship, social pressure, and what following Jesus looks like for teenagers.
Tribes: Growing Friendships
Immediately after each Wednesday service, students head into Tribes, grade-specific small groups led by the same adult leaders week after week. Tribes are where Axis starts being a relationship. Leaders check in during the week, remember what a student is walking through, and show up for them consistently. For most families, this is the piece that makes the fall restart feel less like starting over and more like picking back up.
